HEARING TO DISMISS TODAY 2/13/05

(RA) - A hearing for the OutFest arrests is scheduled for today [Thursday, February 17] before Judge Pamela Dembe at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 707 of the Crimimal Justice Center, located at 1301 Filbert Street in Philadelphia, PA. This hearing is on a motion to dismiss all the charges against the Christians. An outside worship service will proceed the hearing.

On Friday, February 18, Lauren Murch will stand trial on her felony and misdemeanor charges in a Philadelphia juvenile court.

APPEALS COURT REFUSES TO INTERVENE 12/13/04

(RA) The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit refused to reverse Judge Petrese B. Tucker's ruling to block the prosecution of the 'Philadelphia 11'. The charges remain, and the eleven Christians will be prosecuted in the Philadelphia criminal court system.

FEDERAL JUDGE REFUSES TO BLOCK THE PROSECUTION OF THE 'PHILADELPHIA 11' 12/11/04

(RA) U.S. District Judge Petrese B. Tucker on Thursday of last week refused to block the prosecution of the 11 Christians who were arrested on October 10 at the homosexual "OutFest" in Center City Philadelphia. She did so without a written opinion.

Brian Fahling, Senior Trial Attorney for the American Family Association Center for Law and Policy (AFACLP) filed an emergency appeal the following day with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to reverse Tucker's ruling and block the prosecutions.

A preliminary hearing is still scheduled for 9 a.m. this Tuesday, December 14 in courtroom 606 of the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center, located at 1315 Filbert Street.

(RA) Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the City of Philadelphia is permitted to extend benefits to the same-sex partners of its employees. In September 2002, a Commonwealth Court, in a unanimous decision, struck down Philadelphia’s 1998 Life Partnership ordinance, saying that the city was "defining and creating a new marital status" – something only the state has the power to do. The Supreme Court disagreed that the city had overstepped its authority, saying that "the city has [not] legislated in the area of marriage here." Read Details

I was detained after being held for 21 hours in a holding cell, and then ordered by a judge to serve a 5-7 day prison sentence, which ended up being 10 days in the Philadelphia Women’s Prison. Six Christians from REPENT AMERICA sang from hymnals as they were escorted out of City Hall in San Francisco during the unlawful "marriages". Moments after they left the building, about a hundred other Christians from two different churches (one from Los Angeles and the other from Oakland) arrived to protest the lawlessness and to uphold God's Truth. Also, along with them were several local pastors. Together, they ministered on the steps of City Hall through preaching, holding signs, singing hymns, and spiritual songs.
