Hearing postponed in Marcavage case

A hearing that was to take place on Wednesday, December 7 before a District Court in West Chester, Pa. concerning a trespassing charge against Michael Marcavage has been continued to January 4, 2006 at 2:30 p.m.

Marcavage was standing near the campus of West Chester University (West Chester, Pennsylvania) displaying a sign with the reality of abortion when officers cited him for "Defiant Trespass" for refusing to surrender his Constitutionally protected rights to "free speech" and "free exercise of religion". The incident occurred during Repent America's annual pro-life evangelism tour.

COMMENTS FROM OUR READERS:

I was sort of holding off on replying to this one until after the summary hearing. However this is just begging for a response. Did anyone ever think as I do that these Police Officers are acting like the Three Stooges trying to arrest RA? I can just picture Larry, Mo and Chief Bicking right now. Not all cops are bad; however, it's obvious that they are using "Police powers" as an extention of their University political authority. I've personally witnessed persons standing on the sidewalks of State-owned Universities, holding signs, who were not arrested or told to move. What gives??? I guess the sign was offensive to the abortionist. Not like he hasn't scene worse. No, this is a very serious case, this system is being used as a weapon of oppression. It opposes the will of the people and the rule of law in favor of being politically correct. That's not law enforcement. You see, toleration governments grant themselves power gradually. In this case its a State Owned University System of Higher Education. It includes 14 Universities Statewide with over one hundred thousand students attending. Its not just West Chester, its a system that operates throughout the State. They send sworn, armed Police Officers out to enforce State and Federal Laws both on and off Campus. I mean every entry level Police Officer knows that standing on a sidewalk and holding a sign is still legal in the United States. Why would a Campus Police Chief become so personally involved?? I hope the outcome to this is that the "Police Power" is placed in proper perspective and that they stop their practice of selective enforcement. In a free Country there would be a consequence for this, we as American's should stand for nothing less. On January 4th, I hope it's the West Chester administration and their useful idiot Police Chief Bicking who are called the wise guys.
